Awards Dinner Microsite Redesign

As we began to prepare for the next annual "Awards Dinner" event, I took the initiative to redesign and modernize the microsite.

The resulting landing page microsite was wildly well-received — and is still in use today.

No, I’m not kidding. This is how the website had looked, with different background images, for years. This was the styling... until 2021. It’s got MySpace vibes. Not exactly our best foot forward for a community event that honors alumni, parent, faculty, and staff service and generates millions of dollars towards student scholarship.

By this point, we already had a new landing page template. It was time to apply it elsewhere and start tying all our landing pages together cohesively.

After.

With a brand new, highly-robust template at my disposal and a cohesive thread to guide my train of thought, I went to work. This was also my first project working on webp implementation (now I’m a wiz with it). I’ve been striving to implement optimization best practices when and where I can, and this where it all started. Neat; an origin story!

After some constructive collaboration between Digital and Marketing, we presented it to the partner — who had little to no edits at all. They’re still thrilled with the new design.

Go Back to the Past

I created a snapshot of the “Awards Dinner” landing page on web.archive.org once it went live. Wanna check it out? Head over to Wayback Machine to see the design preserved in all its glory as a dot on a historical, digital timeline.

Stay in the Present

...Or you can check out the live page as it stands on the website. See if you can spot any differences in my versio vs. the live version. At this point in time, is it the same still? Has it been totally reworked? We won’t know until we compare!
